Although English is an official language, teachers are in high demand, as many adults seek to improve their English for business purposes or to send their children to English institutes so that they will grow up bilingual and then be able to succeed in the vibrant business sphere. For this reason, Hong Kong is the highest paying ESL destination in the world, with salaries ranging up to $70,000 a year. Contracts are longer than in most other destinations, requiring a minimum commitment of 2 years. Many schools offer roundtrip airfare reimbursement and an allowance to partially subsidize housing.

100-hour TESOL certificate,
TESL Canada, Trinity CertTESOL, CELTA or an equivalent TESOL certificate is preferred
